Meetings set on Bellevue Master Plan
Monday, May 19, 5:30-7:30 PM, Bellevue Middle School Cafeteria: "Taking Bellevue to the Next Level:" strengthening Bellevue's community identity and role as a regional center. This will serve as a kickoff discussion for the entire process, so that we can keep the "big picture" in mind as we tackle the other, more specific follow-up items. People will sign up for task forces to work on the other items at this meeting.

Tuesday, May 27, 5:30-7:30 PM, Harpeth Valley Elementary School Cafeteria: Develop a Special Policy Design Detail with property owners and surrounding neighborhoods for the area centered on Kroger and Collins Road (Triangle area). Although there is already a Detailed Neighborhood Design Plan for this area, there has been some interest in refining the plan for portions of the area. There is currently a zone change request before the Planning Commission that is within this area. The request is to change the zoning of 1.5 acres of land from RS40 (residential single-family 40,000 square foot minimum lot size) to CL (commercial limited). There is interest in building a hardware store on the site. The property is on Highway 100 right next to the Kroger parcel to the west. This proposal does not conform to the newly adopted Bellevue community plan, which calls for the property to be residential.

Monday, June 9, 5:30-7:30 PM, Harpeth Valley Elementary School Cafeteria: This meeting will be to discuss the Major and Collector Street Plan Update for Bellevue.

Monday, June 16, 5:30-7:30 PM, Harpeth Valley Elementary School Cafeteria: This meeting will be to reassess areas (including Highway 70S) for neighborhood-scaled office potential subject to community input.

Monday, June 23, 5:30 - 7:30 PM, Harpeth Valley Elementary School Cafeteria: This meeting will be for discussions regarding traditional neighborhoods and conservation subdivisions as alternative development patterns. Although this discussion could potentially involve many areas of Bellevue, two specific areas that will definitely be discussed are the Hill property on Highway 70S (vacant hill that is east of Coronada condominiums on south side of Highway 70S) and the Loveless Café and Motel property and surrounding area at the terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway.

Monday, July 7, 5:30 - 7:30 PM, Harpeth Valley Elementary School Cafeteria: This will be the wrap-up meeting at which all task forces will report back with recommendations, including those for the Triangle area that do not relate to the pending zone change request (that recommendation will need to be made at the May 27 meeting so that Councilman Tygard will have community input in time for the July 1 Council public hearing).

We have also scheduled an extra meeting date for Monday, June 30 in case one is needed. We are planning to go to the July 24 Planning Commission meeting with a report on the task force activities and any needed plan amendments.
